What we do
Openreach is currently in the middle of a national rollout of high speed broadband by accelerating its Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) build as part of their Fibre First programme. Gridworx is proud to support a number of tier 1 contractors helping to deliver Openreach’s ambition to reach 15 million homes and businesses with full-fibre connectivity by the mid-2020s.
Birmingham
What we did
his project involved the turnkey delivery of survey, design and build of fibre to 16,500 homes in an exchange in Birmingham over a 9 month period.
Survey and Design
Firstly, Gridworx completed an intrusive survey on 165 pons to prove fibre cable routes, identify civils clearance and civils build requirements, identify CBT locations and poling requirements to successfully deliver fibre to all homes targeted. Using our team of inhouse S11 and S13 accredited surveyors all field data was captured using our on-line box to box software and all survey returns were walked off and approved by the client before being uploaded to Openreach’s Orion planning tool prior to build.
Civils Clearance and Civils Build Requirements
Once Gridworx’s design was approved by Openreach, Gridworx programmed and cleared all civils blockages and associated box and track rebuilds. Gridworx has its own inhouse noticing team so that the civils aspect of the fibre build can delivered turnkey by Gridworx.
Poling Requirements
Gridworx replaced 26 of poles on this exchange to allow installation of cable to all homes.
Cabling, Splicing and Commissioning
Gridworx’s cabling and splicing engineers successfully installed and delivered 165 fully commissioned pons (16,500 homes).
